Cold Laser Treatment

One Man’s Story

I am a 72-year-old male and I have been active for much of my life.  I have been a runner since I was in my early 20’s.  Over the past four years, I have experienced knee pain in my right knee.  I have visited numerous doctors, been referred to physical therapy and I made no progress in addressing the pain in my knee.  I realized over the past four years my running days were over, so I started to walk anywhere between 3 and five miles, about five days a week.

 

And four years ago, I hit the wall with pain while walking.  A couple of months ago, I started a cold laser treatment with Marsha Arend on both knees (my left was just starting to give me some trouble).  After two weeks, it was simply astonishing, the pain started to resolve.  I had stopped walking for several months due to the pain.  I started back walking a couple of weeks after I started the cold laser treatment.

It took about three weeks of treatments to start impacting the pain.  After a full month, I was back to walking 3 to 4 miles a week, without pain!! There has been soreness, but the pain has not returned.  Over the past four years, I had x-rays of both my knees and they only showed minimal arthritis, and typical wear and tear of an active 72-year-old.  No need for a knee replacement.

During our cold laser treatments, Marsha Arend noticed the outside of my right knee, where I have always said was the source of the pain, was swollen.

Which led us to think it must be a soft tissue problem.  A recent MRI showed a cyst on my right knee.  I will be seeing an orthopedist in two weeks to see what next steps I can take to address the issue. 

​

For me, the cold laser treatment has been and is a godsend.  It allowed me to return to walking (good for my physical and mental health!  Being active has been a core value in my life.). And it started us on the path to address the issue from a totally different direction than the number of medical doctors and physical therapists I have been working for years.

Marsha’s keen observational skills combined with the cold laser treatment have been a game changer for me.
